SELCO Discontinues Carriage of WJAR-10 - SELCO has discontinued carriage of the Providence NBC affiliate WJAR-10 (Ch. 10) as of January 1, 2009. While we understand this may cause an inconvenience for some of our customers, much of WJAR's programming is duplicative of programming available on Boston's NBC affiliate WHDH-7, which SELCO will continue to carry. WJAR required that SELCO pay for the channel that we historically carried without a charge.

Burning Season is Now Open, Residents May Burn Storm Damaged Tree Debris - The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has relaxed the time period allowed for open burning to allow residents who wish to dispose of storm damaged tree debris. Normally the open burning season begins on January 15th and runs to May 1st of each year. In light of the amount of damaged wood debris DEP has expanded the season. Open Burning Permits may be obtained at the Fire Headquarters located at the Town Center during normal business hours for a fee of $25.00.
